A Life's Work Rooted in Community
Dr. Rashael Nevels was born and raised in South Los Angeles and witnessed firsthand both systemic inequities and the extraordinary resilience of the communities navigating them. Her work is more than a profession — it is a calling grounded in real-world experience and a deep commitment to service.
With nearly a decade of hands-on experience, Dr. Nevels has served individuals and families impacted by homelessness, housing instability, severe mental illness, substance use, chronic health conditions, and systemic barriers to care across healthcare and community-based settings.

to sustain their own well-being as they answer the call to serve.
ROOTS & IMPACT
Community Work & Commitment
Dr. Nevels' community work is inseparable from her identity. Growing up in South Los Angeles gave her a firsthand view of the structural forces that shape health, housing, and opportunity — and a deep conviction that change must come from within communities, not just from outside systems.
She has worked across a wide spectrum of community-based and healthcare settings, partnering with interdisciplinary teams to serve those most impacted by systemic inequities. Her approach is rooted in cultural responsiveness and the belief that every individual deserves dignified, affirming care.

Higher Education
Drawing from her experience as an Assistant Professor, Dr. Nevels equips future clinicians and healthcare providers with the knowledge and practical tools needed to understand marginalization, address health inequities, and implement holistic, culturally responsive approaches to care.
